Google Play review time delayed due to coronavirus

The coronavirus outbreak , which was recently declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has affected many aspects of our daily lives. Globally, 175,000 cases have been diagnosed and approximately 6,500 people have lost their lives to the virus, making the situation critical and requiring immediate action. Efforts are already underway across the globe to limit the spread of COVID-19 . One of the measures taken was the cancellation of conferences such as MWC 2020, Google I / O and many more. The effects of the pandemic are being felt all around us, as time goes by, and it seems to have also affected Google Play review times .

Google-Android apps-Facebook credentials

One result of the coronavirus lockdown is that Android developers are taking longer to manually review apps. When an app needs manual review, a Google employee must take over the job. The company has adjusted its employees’ work schedules to accommodate the pandemic. A notification in the Google Play Console says developers should expect review times of 7 days or more due to “adjusted work hours.”

The report, which was spotted by Android Police, was further confirmed by a Google spokesperson:

“DUE TO ADJUSTABLE WORK HOURS DURING THIS PERIOD, WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPERIENCED A DELAY IN ASSESSMENT TIMES. WHILE THE SITUATION CONTINUES TO EVOLVE, APPLICATION REVIEW TIMES MAY VARY AND TAKE 7 DAYS OR MORE.”

At the moment, the situation does not seem to be improving in the near future, on the contrary, it is expected that it has not yet reached its peak globally. Therefore, Google may adopt stricter internal policies in the coming weeks. The coronavirus pandemic is changing the world and affecting our lives. We will have to fight together to face it.
