AnTutu Benchmark is an app that Android users often turn to to test their devices' capabilities. The test scores check a device's multitasking capabilities, CPU performance , and graphics, and produce an overall score.
Now, however, it appears that the AnTutu Benchmark, Antutu3D, and Altutu apps for Android are no longer on the Play Store, suggesting that Google has removed the benchmarking tools from its app store as part of its decision to delete any apps associated with Cheetah Mobile.
The Chinese companyhas often presented issues related to security, privacy, and has been accused of unfair practices. So recently, Google removed all of Cheetah Mobile's popular apps . And while the removal of the AnTutu Benchmark apps may have surprised many, it seems that they are also linked to the Chinese company.
As Android Police discovered , the app's older Google Play listing contains a privacy policy link to Cheetah Mobile's website. And although AnTutu's website doesn't mention Cheetah Mobile anywhere, it could be linked to it.
Additionally, the Wikipedia for the AnTutu application indicates Cheetah Mobile as its creator, while CM's own website also includes the application.
Whatever the truth, AnTutu Benchmark has now been removed from the Google Play Store. However, if you wish to use its services, the official website of the app now offers an APK file when you click on the download button on the Google Play Store. Users can also find it on popular Google Play Store alternatives.
What does AnTutu answer?
AnTutu says this is a misunderstanding on Google's part. Amelie Liu, Global Marketing Manager of Antutu, told Gizchina that Cheetah Mobile is a shareholder but has no control over the app development or the app's Play Store account.
