The Zorin OS community announced the release of Zorin OS 15 Lite, a version that uses the Xfce DE, and is optimized to run faster than Windows 7 on very old computers.
It is based on the latest long‑term supported Ubuntu 18.04 (Bionic Beaver) from Canonical. Zorin OS 15 Lite features the latest desktop environment Xfce 4.14, which is very user‑friendly and promises to extend your computer’s lifespan.
“With Zorin OS 15 Lite, we have an improved operating system that is designed to run quickly on computers that are 15 years old. Version 15, and XFCE 4.14, is very friendly to new users, especially those who are leaving Windows 7”, the current announcement says.
Features of Zorin OS 15 Lite include a new refreshed appearance with variations and Light and Dark modes. The new desktop theme adapts and can change automatically, to Light and Dark during the day.
Zorin OS 15 Lite supports out of the box the Snap, Flatpak and Flathub services, which will facilitate application installation. It runs the Linux 5.0 kernel series and brings all the latest software and security updates of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
The Zorin OS 15 Lite and Zorin OS 15 Education Lite releases are available for download for 64- and 32-bit computers.
