
In recent years, we have witnessed many breaches involving Yahoo and it would certainly not be unbelievable if more were to happen. How to delete your Yahoo account?
- Open the Yahoo account page
- Log in with your account credentials
- On the next page, scroll down and click Continue to delete my account.
- On the last confirmation page, write your Yahoo email ID one last time and click Yes, terminate this account.
- The confirmation page will then appear.
At this point, you have officially terminated your account. Yahoo provides a 90-day grace period before permanently disabling your email account, in case you change your mind.
When you choose to close a Yahoo account, you will lose access to many Yahoo services, such as your Yahoo email ID, email identity data, profile data, photos , etc.
There is a high chance that most of the information was stolen during previous data.
However, you should pay attention to the last paragraph of the page which says that some of your data may be stored in archived logs.
Take control of your data
Before deleting your account, you have the option to download all of your data from various Yahoo products. However, it may take up to 30 days after you request it.
Here's how to download your Yahoo data:
- Go to Yahoo's privacy dashboard
- Scroll down and select “Request Download”
- Select the type of data sets, such as search history, comments, data used for personalized advertising, etc.
- Click Next and enter an email address where you want to be notified.
- Click on Get Request
Download Yahoo email data
Before deleting your Yahoo account, you also have the option to download Yahoo emails and data shared within the emails. Here's how to do it:
- Go to Yahoo's privacy dashboard
- In the Products section , click Yahoo Mail.
- Click Mail Download Manager next to Yahoo Mail
- Select the type of data you want to recover
- Enter an email address for the data to come
- Click OK.
To download Yahoo emails, you'll need to use a third-party email client, such as Outlook or Mac Mail , and use Yahoo's IMAP settings
