Security researchers at AV-TEST have published the results of their October tests for the best Windows 10 antivirus.
The results also included some surprises, which we will mention below. The survey was conducted in September and October 2018 and, as usual, showed our familiar names in the top positions.
For example, the maximum score of 18 points was achieved by Avira Antivirus Pro, Bitdefender Internet Security, BullGuard Internet Security, Kaspersky Internet Security, Microworld eScan Internet Security Suite and Symantec's Norton Security.
Of course, no one expected BullGuard and Microworld to be in the top spots alongside security companies Kaspersky and Bitdefender. However, according to AV-TEST's tests, the companies' products scored six points each in three tests that assess protection, usability, and performance.
The worst performer last month was Malwarebytes Premium. The app scored 4 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 4.5 points for usability. Overall, it scored 13.5 points.

Now for Windows Defender, which we're all interested in as it comes pre-installed on Windows 10, the application's performance was quite impressive. Microsoft's program had an overall score of 17 points with 5.5 points in protection, 5.5 points in performance, and 6 points in usability.
This is the second time that Windows Defender has come very close to the top security products on the market, and if it keeps it up, it could become the one and only Windows security application, with what that could mean for other manufacturers.
