Google has revealed a major innovation it is preparing with “smart shoes.” More specifically, the technology giant seems to be making efforts to develop built-in sensors in shoes, which will monitor the activity of the user wearing them and will be able to detect how much they weigh and if and when they have gained weight! 
Google's partner, Alphabet, has already shown off prototypes of the "lace-age" shoes as developers look for a partner to build and market them, according to CNBC. The smart shoes could be programmed to detect falls, which could appeal to older customers, as they could send alerts to families and caregivers if something worrisome happens to the wearer.
Of course, it should be noted that we have also seen this technology in Apple and very recently it proved to be particularly useful after saving the life of a man from Norway. The man slipped in the bathroom and suffered serious head injuries and was located within half an hour from the nearest hospital, thanks to the Apple smart watch he was wearing. In the same way, if this technology called "fall detection" is indeed developed, it will mainly be addressed to customers who are more health-conscious. The difference is that Google will provide fall detection as an additional service, as the goal is to detect the person's activity. Also, Google's smart shoes could certainly warn of heart failure, as there will be the symptom of sudden weight gain due to fluid retention. Although Google's smart shoes will have several advantages, they can certainly be criticized for restricting personal freedom on the part of the user. As for their release date, nothing has been announced yet, as the process is still in the construction stage. Soon, more will be revealed by Google.
