When the Apple Watch was first released, it was considered more of a fashion accessory than a useful gadget. In fact, it was an extremely expensive accessory that added more features over time. Although some users had their doubts, today it has definitely proven its worth, as it saved a man in Norway!
We've already seen a lot of stories in the past few months involving the Apple Watch's heart rate monitor, which is used to detect situations that threaten the wearer's health. Indeed, it's no exaggeration to say that the Apple Watch can help many people, as it saved someone today. This feature has been renamed "fall detection" and made its introduction in the Apple Watch Series 4.
According to a report from NRK, a 67-year-old man from Norway named Toralv Østvang owes his life to his Apple Watch, as it saved his life. Toralv Østvang had a very bad experience, as he fell in the bathroom and was seriously injured. At that time, his Apple Watch automatically contacted rescue personnel.
In fact, once the accessory detects a fall, it will send a message to local emergency services and send information about the exact location. This movement will only be activated if the watch user remains still for a full minute after the fall
In the case of Mr. Toralv Østvang, half an hour after the fall, the rescue team arrived in the bathroom and found him lying on the floor, bleeding and unconscious. In particular, the patient had three serious blows to his face but after being taken to the hospital he recovered.
The "fall detection" feature on the Apple Watch is obviously a lifesaver, especially for the elderly. It should be noted that this feature is enabled by default if the user who buys it is 65 years old or older.
