Hacker and dataminer Mike Heskin recently revealed some very interesting information about the new Nintendo Switchthat will be released soon.
After months of speculation, Nintendo finally announced the Switch Lite earlier this week, and it appears the Japanese gamingis also making changes to the base model of the Switch.
According to Heskin's Twitter post , references to the release of new Lite and New models have been present in the Switch firmware since version 5.0 of the system last year. The base Switch hardware supports 4GB of RAM (and 6GB for the Dev kit), while the new Switch models will support both 4GB and 8GB of memory, as well as LPDDR4X DRAM, which should offer a small increase in battery life.
Heskin also says that the graphics processing unit (GPU) in the "New" Switch model is higher than the Switch Lite, which may lead to a small performance increase for the aforementioned models.
While current Switch models only support 32GB of internal memory, the “New” Switch models can also offer more internal storage.
In addition to the two models mentioned above, rumors have circulated that Nintendo is planning to launch a Switch Pro model based on NVIDIA, with significant memory and performance improvements. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed by the company.
Nintendo is expected to release the Switch Lite later this year, on September 20th.
