Yesterday, Twitter experienced an extensive outage. The outage lasted for a few hours and was felt in many countries. Many users reported that they were unable to log in to accounts and send tweets. The platform confirmed the outage with a public announcement, but did not provide many details:
“We are currently investigating the issues that have arisen that are preventing users from accessing Twitter,” a message on Twitter’s status page said . “We will update you on what is happening soon.”
Social media platforms and cloud services have been facing similar problems lately . The Twitter outage is the latest case. Last month, Google Cloud experienced a major network outage. The outage caused major problems, as it affected both Google and non-Google services. Among the most popular services affected are Snapchat, Vimeo, Shopify, and from Google services, YouTube, Gmail , Google Search, Drive, Google Docs, and Google Nest.

Shortly after, a Verizon outage caused services Cloudflare, Amazon, Facebook , and other platforms. Facebook and other services (Instagram and WhatsApp) also experienced issues last week. Users reported being unable to upload new images, while also being unable to view existing photos on the platform.
Twitter, in a more recent statement, informed users that the outage, which occurred yesterday, was due to an internal configuration change, which it is still working to fix. “Most people can access Twitter again, and we are working to make sure Twitter is available to everyone as soon as possible.”.
