Three popular social media platforms, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, have suffered yet another outage, preventing their users from logging in, watching or posting content. Some have even been unable to access accounts . The outage is mainly affecting the UK, northern Europe, the east coast of the US and parts of South America, so it is a global phenomenon. The reason behind the outage has not yet been announced and as expected, users are furious. Many have even turned to Twitter, which never seems to be affected by such outages, to express their displeasure over the incident.
According to Downdetector, a site that tracks outages on popular web platforms, the problems began around 2 p.m. It found that users were being blocked from many of the experiences their accounts offered. According to it, 86% of users were unable to access the newsfeed and many of the comments, while they were also unable to post photos.
Facebook issued a statement saying it was aware of the issue. "We're aware that some people are having trouble uploading images, videos, and other files to our apps. We're working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible," a company spokesperson said.
