The Internet Archive will preserve Google+ content

Archive As is known, Google+ will cease to operate next month. Thus, the company will delete all user data from April 2, 2019. Google had already announced, since last year, that it planned to terminate the operation of Google +. In fact, some of the key features of the platform have already been disabled since February. While Google is ready to proceed with the process of deleting user data, the Internet Archive and ArchiveTeam announced that their work is focused on preserving all public posts on Google +, before the platform is deleted.

Both sites (Internet Archive, ArchiveTeam) have begun the process of archiving public Google+ posts, according to posts they made on Reddit. In fact, the two sites have already contacted users and asked those who do not want their content saved to delete their posts or accounts.

However, it appears that not all content will be preserved on Google+. Content that will not be saved includes private or deleted content as well as comments that have more than 500 comments. Additionally, photos and videos will be archived but at a lower resolution than the original.

Both the Internet Archive and ArchiveTeam have said they have been planning to archive Google+ content since they first learned that Google was planning to shut down the platform. If there are any people who want to help preserve the content, they can volunteer and work with the two sites.

Google has announced that it will be shutting down its platform after discovering a major security flaw. According to the company, the platform was not being used enough or engaging by its users.

Since last month, new users have not been able to register nor create new pages or communities.

Google will start deleting Google+ content, accounts, and pages starting next month. To avoid losing your data, users should download and save it before the deadline.
