Google will launch its Duo video calling app on the web

Google is planning to launch its “Duo” video calling app for web browsers in the coming weeks, according to official sources. The move by the company suggests that a wider variety of devices will be able to access the emerging service. Until now, Google Duo was only available as an app for the Play Store and iOS App Store, as well as on its own “Smart Display” platform.

Like previous web versions of Google Allo and most of Google Messages for the web, the web version of Duo will support the Chrome browser and possibly other popular browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox and Apple's Safari. Additionally, as with all web apps, Duo will take advantage of the browser's notifications for incoming calls!

It's not yet clear how many of Duo's mobile features will be available on the web, but it's likely to include important features like "knock knock" and the ability to leave video messages. Also, since Duo uses a Google account to authenticate users, it's likely that the web version will use the same method. Also, Allo and Messages have used a QR code-based system, so Google's new Duo could incorporate the same.

Of course, the new change is not the only new thing that the company will bring soon. In addition, features such as group calling, APK Insight and low light mode are also expected. All of these will definitely come one of the following weeks. Finally, it should be noted that unlike Google Allo, the new Duo version for the web is expected to be a huge success, as the mobile application exceeded 1 billion downloads on the Play Store in December.
