Microsoft recently confirmed a new issue in the KB4467682 update for Windows 10 running version 1803 April.
The company acknowledges in a statement published on its official page that the KB4467682 update may break the Start menu in Windows 10 for a number of users, without providing further details on the matter.
"After installing this update, some users with custom Start menu layouts may see their menu not displaying correctly," Microsoft says.
The tech giant claims it is already working on a fix for the issue and expects the problem to be resolved by mid-December.
Microsoft is expected to release new updates for Windows 10 tomorrow as part of its monthly update cycle, and it's likely that a fix for this issue will be included. If there's no fix in tomorrow's updates, the forecast changes to the end of the month.
What is important to know is that Microsoft has already stopped the release of this particular update after discovering that KB4467682 can cause many errors, even BSODs, on many Surface Book 2s.
"After installing this update, some users reported experiencing multiple errors. As a precaution, we have removed this update from Windows Update and the Microsoft Update Catalog to protect customers. The fixes and improvements will be available in the December 2018 security update release, which will also include the resolution of the issue," Microsoft says.
There are no workarounds available at this point, but users can simply uninstall the update completely if their PCs are experiencing errors. Devices that have not already received this build will no longer be able to download it from Windows Update until the issue is resolved.
