Firefox Will Show Notifications on Compromised Websites

Mozilla has added a new feature to the desktop version of Firefox that will notify users when they visit a website that has been compromised in the past. The new feature was added to inform users about the history of the site and to suggest that they change their passwords if they were victims of the breach.

Firefox Will Show Notifications on Compromised Websites

Firefox Monitor is a free service from Mozilla that draws on data from Troy Hunt 's Have I Been Pwned . What it does is inform users if their emails have been compromised in the past. Until recently, to use the Firefox Monitor tool, you had to go to the official website and check each of your addresses yourself.

Now part of the process will be done automatically as the Firefox browser will notify users whether the website they are visiting has been compromised or not. The notification will contain a few details about each breach and will have a button that will direct them to Mozilla.

When the alert appears, users will be able to either navigate to the Monitor tool, dismiss it, or disable the service altogether. According to Mozilla, these alerts will appear a maximum of once per site and will only notify about violations that occurred in the last 12 months.

However, this latest update is not available to everyone yet, but will be gradually rolled out over the next few days.
