Sony surprised everyone by announcing the PlayStation Classic, a mini version of the original console, with 20 games pre-loaded.
If you're a gamer of the past, you'll remember a time when the industry was rocked by the introduction of the PlayStation console. The games we played on the original PlayStation are still with us to this day and helped shape an entire generation of people.

To be fair, re-releasing the console isn't exactly a novel idea. Nintendo already did it with the Super NES Classic Edition system, but of course we're not complaining. Sony's initiative may have come as a surprise, but the community is sure to love the new console.
While Sony says the new mini console mimics the look and feel of the old version, it's clear the hardware won't be the same. Let's not forget that it's been almost 25 years since the original release, so it makes perfect sense that it would come with improvements.
“Today, we’re so excited to announce that we’re bringing back the original PlayStation experience in a new, mini version – the PlayStation Classic! The console will come with 20 pre-loaded games, including fan favorites like Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, R4 Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms. The mini console is approximately 45% smaller than the original PlayStation and mimics the look and feel of the original with the same controls and similar appearance,” Sony says in the official announcement.
Of course, we don't know what it will include, but since it will come with 20 pre-loaded games, we assume it will have some kind of storage solution. And Sony promises that more games will be available, which means it will have network connectivity.
For now, we only know that it has an HDMI output and two controllers. The PlayStation Classic is set to launch on December 3rd and will cost $99 (MSRP).
