Twitter : The Facebook data leak scandal has certainly alarmed many users out there. Both those who were already suspicious and those who had no idea of the dangers lurking on social media now know that they need to be very careful with what they upload to the internet .
So far, everyone has been blaming Facebook for illegally sharing data with Cambridge Analytica. Now, a second social media platform is coming to the fore, allegedly doing exactly the same thing.
Recent reports from the Telegraph suggest that Twitter provided access to user data to Cambridge Analytica researcher Aleksandr Kogan. It was found that unlike the Facebook breach, which compromised the data of an estimated 87 million Facebook users, the Twitter data purchased by Aleksandr Kogan in 2015 was not as large in volume.
Specifically, Aleksandr Kogan's company, GSR, created the quiz app, Cambridge Analytica. This app, as we know, collected the profiles of millions of Facebook users without their permission. What we didn't know until now is that it also paid for a day of access to Twitter users' data, three years ago. In fact, Twitter admitted that it did, indeed, collaborate with Aleksandr Kogan.
So far, no other details have been leaked on the subject, but we will have more information very soon.
Stay tuned…
