If you still have Windows 7 and are looking for the right antivirus until you complete the upgrade to Windows 10, you can continue reading.
AV -TEST conducted a new survey to determine the best antivirus for home Windows 7 users in January and February 2018. And while some of the top names remain at the top, there are a few surprises worth mentioning.
First of all, the products that received the best scores are: AhnLab V3 Internet Security, Kaspersky Internet Security and Trend Micro Internet Security. This means that there are only three security solutions that achieved the maximum score, 6 points for each of the three tests that analyze the protection, performance and usability offered to Windows 7 users.
However, there are several that came very close to perfect performance, such as Comodo Internet Security, McAfee Internet Security, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Symantec Norton Security. These products scored 5.5 points in one of the three tests, narrowly missing out on the top spot.
The lowest score was recorded by F-Secure's Safe, with an overall score of 14.5 points.
Windows 7 is already in extended support mode, which is scheduled to end in January 2020, so installing a security solution will only help prevent malware in the coming months. Compared to Windows 10, Windows 7 does not come with a pre-installed antivirus, although there are several free solutions that offer satisfactory security.
A typical example is Microsoft Essentials , which evolved into Windows Defender in newer versions of Windows, while also gaining advanced functionality to replace a full-featured antivirus solution.
