Apple has announced the technical specifications of the new iMac Pro models.
Since last June, we've known that Apple will focus on Intel Xeon processors that come in various versions with 8, 10, 14 and 18 cores. The company says that they will have a base frequency clock of 3.2GHz and in Turbo Boost mode they will reach 4.5 GHz. The cache memory will start at 19MB and go up to 42MB in the 18-core version.
As for the graphics card, they will be equipped with AMD Radeon Pro Vega. In the basic models we find the Radeon Pro Vega 56 with 8GB HBM2 and in the more upgraded models the Radeon Pro Vega 64 with 16GB, upon special order. Their display will be made by a 27″ Retina display with a resolution of 5120×2880” or otherwise 5k and the brightness can reach 500 cd / m².
Buyers will have additional memory and storage options. The entry-level machines come with 32GB of 2666 MT/s DDR4 ECC memory, with options for 64GB of 2666 MT/s DDR4 ECC and 128GB of 2666 MT/s DDR4 ECC. The drive will be a 1TB SSD, but there you also have the option of two more versions, at 2 or 4TB.
On the back we find the familiar Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports (x4) accompanied by USB 3.0 type A (x4), audio jacks, a card reader (SDXC) and a 10 Gigabit Ethernet port.
The first versions of the iMac Pro have been available for a few days now and can be purchased through Apple's official website. The models containing 14 or 18 cores are expected to be released in 2018. Their starting price is estimated at $3,999.
