Samsung Galaxy S9: Coming in February to surpass the iPhone X

Now that Apple has unveiled its entire new iPhone lineup, it's Samsung's turn to introduce something new to the market. That burden is borne by the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9.Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung's next flagship will be the company's first smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor, but there are also many reports that claim we won't see Touch ID on a Galaxy device this time around either.

Although the information we have about the Galaxy S9 is limited, the most likely versions are two: Either it will copy Apple's approach by installing a facial recognition system on the Galaxy S9 or it will stick with the original decision of the fingerprint sensor on the back of the device.

At the moment, both versions have the same chances of being implemented, although Samsung could very well combine them in the S9, which will feature 3D sensing cameras, similar to those of the iPhone X.

Note that previous rumors suggested that the Galaxy Note 9, which will be unveiled in the summer of 2018, will be the company's first smartphone with a fingerprint sensor, but we still can't know which of the two devices will take the lead.

Both Apple and Samsung have considered embedding the sensors in the display but abandoned the idea due to technical issues. Apple even delayed the release of the iPhone X as it took longer to find the new location for Touch ID, but ultimately, as we all know, it opted for Face ID.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be released in early 2018, most likely in February.
