Samsung Display is preparing to produce OLED screens for Apple's next-generation iPhone , as according to a recent report, Cupertino has already approved prototype panels.
Samsung has already reached out to partners to order components and materials for the OLED screen manufacturing process, while Cupertino says it has ordered 80 million units. Since this isn't the first time this news has made headlines, there's a good chance it's true.
Under the terms of the agreement, Samsung will manufacture about 10 million displays each month, which means that in September, when Apple launches the next-generation iPhone, about 30 million units should be ready for sale.
The display will not be curved, as we find on the Samsung Galaxy S8, as Apple considers them to be of low functionality, so it is opting for a flexible OLED display to cover the front body. Although the information has not been confirmed at this time, Apple intends to offer a screen ratio similar to that of the Galaxy S8.
This in turn enslaves some design improvements as the iPhone has smaller bezels and no home button.
The 2017 iPhone, whose name has not yet been revealed, will be the first iPhone with an OLED display.
Apple is reportedly planning to make the switch to OLED displays for good next year. In fact, rumors suggest that the company is already looking for new partners for the next-generation iPhone as it tries to ensure that its suppliers have the production capacity to meet demand for the new model.
