Chuwi is one of the companies trying to offer affordable alternatives to build computers with Microsoft Surface features but at a lower cost. The company recently announced that it is working on a new laptop, the SurfBook.
As we can all imagine, the SurfBook comes to compete with Surface Book , although we would say it looks more like an alternative to the Surface Pro 4, given that it has a built-in kickstand.
The new SurfBook features a 12.3-inch display with a resolution of 2736×1824 pixels, but rumors suggest that a 10.5-inch version is also in the works.
In terms of hardware, the Chuwi SurfBook isn't the most powerful on the market, as it's powered by a fairly slow Intel Apollo Lake N3450 processor. While the processor isn't the best choice for a Windows 10 laptop and doesn't compare to the Intel Core i5 or i7 used in Microsoft's Surface Book, it's powerful enough to handle everyday tasks like browsing the web or watching movies.
The processor is paired with 6GB of RAM, while the device itself has 128GB of storage. Stylus support brings it a step closer to the Surface line, while the 10,000 mAh battery provides about 6 hours of life. Of course, the device will run on the full version of Windows 10.
The SurfBook comes with a detachable keyboard just like the Surface and thanks to the built-in kickstand it can be easily converted from a tablet to a laptop.
The SurfBook is said to be priced between $250 and $300.
