When you type a question into Google Search, it usually returns a complete answer at the top of the page. This suggested answers feature can save you time, but it can also give you the wrong answer.
But why would Google give incorrect information?
The short snippets of information that appear at the top of Google search results are known in SEO parlance as “featured snippets,” and are considered “rich answers,” respectively. These snippets are given higher priority than regular results that do not contain the above tags. 
We mentioned the above so you can understand how Google determines which excerpts to display from a post.
To determine priority, it now uses a technology called the Knowledge Graph database. However, this database cannot verify verified sources.
This means that Google's suggested answers can be posted to the top of the results page from any top search result, even if it's not the website that first published it.
How do these results reach the top?
Popularity is a big factor, but it's not the only one. Google prioritizes links that directly answer common questions, and links that answer those questions in the fewest words. It's worth mentioning that Google's search engine also really likes answers that provide information in list form. 
As you can see, it doesn't really matter whether the information is accurate or not. Past examples have proven this. Of course, they were quickly removed once they went viral:
An older Google entry for Barack Obama listed him as “King of America,” or many entries that stated that dinosaurs never existed.
Of course, the wrong answers still exist. Why?
Google Search uses an automated process that decides whether to keep a snippet or change it based on its performance. So a completely false snippet could be the top suggested answer until someone points it out. Google is usually pretty quick to fix any such issues, but always after a celebration.
So, it would be a good idea not to believe the first thing you read..
