InJuly 2016, Google was working hard to improve the VR experience for Chrome users as the giant sought to create a VR version for Android devices. Now, Google has announced that Chrome supports Daydream VR.
Google explains that the latest version of Chrome will feature VR, which will make it easier to browse Air Force One just like we access our favorite websites.
This new feature will only work on Daydream smartphones including the Pixel, Pixel XL, ZTE Axon 7, Moto Z and Mate 9 Pro, and Asus ZenFone AR. Smartphones that support Daydream VR have high-resolution displays, powerful graphics, and sensors that track movements. It should also be noted that they will run on Android 7.0 Nougat.
Users will be able to browse the VR experience of their choice by logging into VR and placing the smartphone in a Daydream View headset. Those who do not have a headset will be able to view the VR content on any smartphone or desktop computer and interact with it with their mouse or fingers. Without access to a Daydream View headset, navigating VR content is less engaging, perhaps like navigating the Street View section of Google Maps.
In addition, Google unveiled a list of interactive websites, including the interactive documentary Bear 71. The company announced that even more VR-enabled websites are coming in the future.
In the coming months, Google has committed to bringing VR to all devices, and one of them will be Google Cardboard.
The VR experience has come to Chrome!
