PDF is a file format used to display documents regardless of software, hardware, or operating system. Developer Omar Rizwan recently discovered that it can also be used to play simple games.
While learning Adobe's PostScript programming language, Rizwan discovered that PDF files can include other things, such as embedded Flash objects, 3D objects, and JavaScript. Although most PDF readers don't support them, the Chrome browser implements a small subset of the Acrobat JavaScript API.
This means you can embed and run limited pieces of JavaScript in your PDFs. So Rizwan dug up the code for the classic arcade game with blocks and a ball and embedded it in a PDF file. You can view this file online and play the game it has embedded by simply visiting the link with Chrome.
To play, simply move your mouse horizontally in the blue area below the green ball bounce bar to control its movement.
