Facebook has removed direct messaging from its main mobile app, forcing users to download the Messenger app to chat with their friends.
So members of the largest social network who want to read their messages from mobile devices are faced with a message stating that "your conversations have been moved to Messenger."
After the message appears, the user is automatically transferred to the Facebook Messenger application download page on Google Play.
The motivation behind this new move by Facebook seems to make sense. The social network already has two of the most popular messaging services in the world. One is obviously WhatsApp and the other is Messenger, which was spun off from the social network.
Thus, the company seems to intend to separate its services, leaving the main Facebook application for browsing and publishing content, while Messenger will be exclusively for chatting with groups and friends.
But one app for Messenger and one for the main Facebook app is a bit much... This means two separate apps for the same service on your mobile devices. Facebook probably didn't think much about battery life or switching between apps.
