Lenovo and Juniper Networks , a leader in networking innovation, announced the launch of a global strategic partnership aimed at creating synergies across product and technology portfolios to create the next generation of converged, hyper-converged and hyper-scale data center solutions for both enterprise and web-scale customers.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating simplified, flexible, high-performance solutions that will provide customers with faster access to applications with reduced operating costs.
With a broad portfolio of x86-based servers and switches, Lenovo is at the forefront of the Converged and Software Defined offerings movement. Juniper is the market leader in networking innovation with a portfolio that includes routers, switches, network management software, network security products and software-defined networking technology. The partnership is expected to enable customers to leverage Juniper’s networking capabilities and Lenovo’s proven leadership in x86 server reliability1 to gain network access to a manageable, scalable and simplified infrastructure for their data centers.
The following are the basic planned principles of cooperation:
- Customers will be able to purchase Juniper's broad portfolio of networking products directly from Lenovo for an easier purchasing process and comprehensive support.
- With the transition towards deconsolidation of hardware and software in the data center, the two companies aim to bring open, flexible solutions to the markets, leveraging the ONIE (Open Network Install Environment) model.
- With customers' needs for rapid resource provisioning and easy management in mind, the two companies are expected to collaborate to deliver simplified data center management and orchestration leveraging Lenovo's xClarity software management, as well as Juniper's Network Director and Contrail SDN software.
- In addition, the two companies plan to collaborate on global sales strategies targeting enterprise customers, service providers, channel partners, and system integrators.
- Lenovo and Juniper aim to develop joint go-to-market plans and a customized resale model to address the unique requirements of the local market in China.
