According to Business Insider, ad blocking software installations are on the rise. A recent report from PageFair and Adobe revealed that ad blockers have seen a 41% increase in installations since last year, which also means there are a lot of advertising companies that could potentially lose out.

In fact, the report claims that Ad blocking has cost publishers an estimated $21.8 billion in 2015!

Forecasts even say that in 2016, this amount is expected to almost double to $41.4 billion.

This is of course not surprising, thanks to the efforts of services like the EFF who recently released an extension that prevents spying by advertisers.

Apple's iOS 9 also has a feature in Safari that could block ads as well.

It should be noted that two months ago, Google's Larry Page admitted that ads could be better served in a way that would annoy users.

Maybe this is the next thing all advertisers should think about.

Below is the percentage of Ad blocking in Greece. You will notice that it is very high, reaching 37%.
