Rumors are that Google is trying to buy the social network Twitter, and April Fool's Day has passed!
The rumors published by the Telegraph indicate that Google wants to buy the online social networking service. This is of course not the first time we have heard something like this.
In 2009, we heard similar allegations again, although both companies refused to comment on the matter.
One thing is for sure, every time such a rumor starts circulating, Twitter's shares go up, and the company's value increases.
The news should come as no surprise, as Twitter has been experiencing continuous growth in recent years, and is trending towards becoming a real-time search engine, along with the well-known microblogging social platform.
The Telegraph reported that two companies (Google and Facebook) are hypothetically trying to buy the social network, and that Google has the most chances.
Google Plus does not seem to be as effective against Facebook as well as Twitter, and it is very natural for Google to want to acquire one of its main competitors. (Of course it could not buy Facebook)
None of the companies we mentioned above have released any official statement so far, and we will probably have to wait to see if the rumors hold up first and also if a deal will ultimately be reached.
Needless to say, if the rumors are true, then Facebook will get some serious competition.
Be patient and we'll see..
