The new feature “Retweet with comment” allows users to embed a tweet into their own tweets, The “Retweet with comment” is essentially a way to bypass the 140-character limit that Twitter allows in a comment. The feature is available from today on Twitter's website and in the updated iPhone app. The Android app is expected to be updated soon.
To incorporate tweets into retweets until now you had to copy and paste the tweets, truncating characters.
Starting today, you'll be able to do it with the click of a button. The arrival of the new feature was greeted with ironic celebrations by Twitter users , as it's a hack that should have been around for quite some time.
Forcing users to condense their rambling thoughts into dense tweets was one of Twitter's main features.
However, as it seems the platform is maturing, and many significant or non-significant users need new ways to be able to use Twitter as the main communication platform (without restrictions on their chatter) with their audience, instead of a blog.
A popular way to bypass Twitter's 140-character limit that its users currently use is to post photos with excerpts from articles.
The addition of the new feature shows that Twitter's management team has “read” the audience's needs and is beginning to redesign the platform, adding features that were missing and that will make life on the microblogging network easier. We hope the platform does not lose its character over time, because so far the 140-character limit seems to perform very well.
