Lizard Squad have pioneered on several front pages recently, something that has never happened on the internet before. After the temporary takedown of PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, the rebels without a cause are seeking cash by offering for sale the tool for DDoS attacks. The electronic exhaustion in all its grandeur.
Starting at $6 per month, buyers will be able to enlist the services of Lizard Squad for a targeted attack on a web site.
The ability to hit almost any website or web service is remarkable and quite dangerous. Online wars are now for sale. Imagine competing companies unleashing each other's “rip” of the Lizard Squad tool. The companies themselves and their customers will be lost. Winners are the new profile of online trolls.
Lizard Squad doesn't try to hide, like the cracker groups of the old school scene, see Core, ZWT, XFORCE.
The Lizard Squad are forging a very different profile from what we have known until today. Criminal acts with real names, the era of Anonymous is over. They try, through interviews on major news channels, to prove their online power, attempting to build a marketable brand name with the group's name, while simultaneously creating an incredible résumé.
This could be problematic for many if the authorities cannot track these electronic mercenaries. Currently, as we reported yesterday, only one member of Lizard Squad was arrested and is recorded in a press release of the British Police. The second, known by the alias Ryan, was arrested by the FBI immediately after his landing at Dallas airport. For the second arrest there is no official press release, apart from references on Twitter from the group itself.
It is worth noting that the dedicated website that markets the “Lizard Stresser” service is offline. The note states:
“Switching servers… will be back online soon – All paid accounts will receive one week bonus as compensation”
“Change servers … we will be back online soon – All paid accounts will receive a one‑week bonus as compensation”.
