California legalizes Bitcoin

Good news for Bitcoin as California Governor Jerry Brown signed a new bill known as AB 129 and titled “Lawful Money,” which essentially legalizes the use of Bitcoin and other digital currencies in the state.

The bill makes changes to existing law to “ensure that various forms of alternative currency, such as digital coins, tokens or other items of monetary value, do not violate the law when these methods are used to purchase goods and services or transmit payments,” reports TNW.

Although Bitcoin has suffered serious difficulties this year, such as the closure of Mt. Gox, the banning of the currency by two national banks in China, it seems that it is slowly starting to establish itself as a digital asset again. Apple released the first Bitcoin trading application on the App Store, while Google and Yahoo recently took steps to recognize Bitcoin as a digital currency. It should also be mentioned that they have now started to display the Bitcoin exchange rate on their networks.
