Although Apple usually announces its new devices in September each year, rumors have it launching the new iPhone 6 a little earlier, in August.
The matter was first reported by Taiwanese media and later picked up by Western media outlets such as Reuters. According to the reports, Apple plans to launch only the future iPhone with a 4.7-inch screen next August. The version with a 5.5- or 5.6-inch screen will follow in September.
The new iPhone 6s that are about to be released will be a radical upgrade to Apple's smartphone line, since in addition to significantly larger screens, there will also be a sapphire coating that will increase their durability.
The new devices are also expected to ship with a new version of the iOS operating system, which is expected to be officially announced in June. The upcoming iOS 8 is expected to feature built-in fitness apps, an iTunes Radio app, improved maps, and improved data transfer capabilities.
It is worth noting that if the rumors are confirmed, it will be the first time that Apple will introduce devices with a screen size that would fall into the category of "phablets." Samsung had first penetrated this market back in 2011 with the original 5.3-inch Galaxy Note, to be followed by manufacturers such as HTC, Nokia and LG with similar sizes.
