Although the size of computers has been decreasing for some time, leading to the "explosion" of portable devices, some areas of technology remain the same in this regard, with printers being a typical example.

This is largely defined by the “philosophy” that a printer must “accept” and print a sheet of paper, which also defines the size of the device. However, students at the Jerusalem College of Technology (ZUtA Labs Ltd) have approached the issue differently, by creating a small, portable “pocket” printer that sits on a piece of paper and uses inkjet technology to print words and images, regardless of the size of the page or the device it is connected to.

The Mini Mobile Robotic Printer / Pocket Printer is on Kickstarter, aiming to raise $400,000 in funding. It is currently at $168,320, with 29 days left to complete the process.

The "pocket" printer is charged via a Micro-USB cable and can operate for an hour, while, according to its manufacturers, it has ink for printing 1,000 pages. It connects to other devices via Bluetooth. As its creators say, "we created a portable printer that is easy and fun to use, can be carried everywhere and prints from any device, on pages of any size". Its dimensions are 10 centimeters high and 11.5 in diameter, while its weight is 300 grams. Its print speed is 1.2 ppm. Regarding print quality, the original can reach up to 96×192 dpi, however, it is claimed that the final product will have a higher resolution. The supported operating systems are Android, iOS, Linux, OSX, Windows.
