Has it crossed your mind that because Apple hasn't updated its Mac mini in the last three years, it plans to abandon this particular project?
We don't blame you, but according to Apple CEO Tim Cook, there's still hope for Apple's tiny desktop computer.
The news comes via Cook's somewhat unexpected response to a letter from an Apple customer, revealed by MacRumors.
“I’m glad you love Mac mini,” Cook writes. “We love it, too. Our customers have found so many creative and interesting uses for Mac mini. While this isn’t the time to share details, we plan for Mac mini to be a significant part of our product lineup going forward.”
Cook's letter aligns with Phil Schiller's statement from April 2017, when he said the Mac mini is "still a product in Apple's lineup."
Six months later, it still doesn't look like a new Mac mini is exactly ready to be released, but at least we know Apple hasn't completely forgotten about its existence.
Combined with previous news, this vague update about the Mac mini hints at an interesting future for Apple desktop fans. The iMac Pro is launching in December, and a completely redesigned Mac Pro is coming sometime next year.
