The Bitcoin community seems to be quite angry. It is angry and demands answers that are not coming. The issue arose with the largest Bitcoin exchange that existed, Mt. Gox, which recently declared bankruptcy, stating that it fell victim to a hacker attack that stole hundreds of millions of dollars. Mt. Gox staff are silent, and thus a group of hackers claimed they have gained access to the company's servers and can finally provide answers.
On Sunday, the hackers managed to gain access to the Reddit account and the personal blog of Mark Karpeles, CEO of Mt.Gox. They posted a very angry text
It’s time that MTGOX got the bitcoin communities wrath instead of [the] Bitcoin Community getting Goxed,
the unknown hackers wrote, referring to the many cases over the three years of Mt.Gox's history that it had gone offline, delayed transactions or cancelled transactions, so much so that Bitcoin owners invented the term “goxed” – which means they suffer from Mt.Gox's technical malfunctions.
The hackers, however, did not stop there. They also published a 716 megabyte file on Karpeles's personal website, which they claim is from the Mt. Gox servers. It appears to include an Excel spreadsheet with over one million transactions, a file that aims to show the company's balances in eighteen different currencies, the backoffice application for some kind of administrative access to the Mt. Gox databases. The leak includes a screenshot of the database of the parent company of Gox, Tibanne Limited, a list of residential addresses, and Karpeles's personal resume.
“That fat fuck has been lying!!”
