A new digital repository with important content for the world of IT and the Internet has been created by the National Documentation Center (EKT) to provide open access to material from the Free Software/Open Source Software Association (ELA/LAK). The Free Software/Open Source Software repository (https://repository.ellak.gr) includes content produced through actions related to Free Software, Open Technologies and Open Content, material produced by EEL/LAK, its members, but also by individual creators.
Visitors to the repository can navigate through the collections and search for the material they are interested in, including studies, videos, conference and workshop proceedings, guides, presentations, etc. This content is made available in accordance with the principles of Open Access. Registered users can even register relevant content themselves, thus providing the possibility for other users to exploit their material.
The EL/LAK repository contributes not only to the systematic collection, organization and open availability of content related to open technologies and open software, but also to its broader exploitation and reuse, with the ultimate goal of promoting Open Content actions and highlighting the benefits of using Free Software and Open Architecture Technologies.
The content of the repository currently numbers 319 documents, constituting a valuable source of knowledge regarding developments in the development of open source applications, their mode of operation, their potential for exploitation, as well as the application of public licenses, both inside and outside Greece.
The repository, which has been configured according to the institution's requirements, is hosted in the EKT Cloud infrastructure. It provides capabilities for long-term content preservation, its sustainable utilization, as well as the implementation of tasks such as data migration to international standards, content export to selected applications, etc.
The development of the Free Software/Open Source Software Repository was completed within the framework of the project “National Research and Technology Information System/Social Networks – User-Generated Content” (Operational Program “Digital Convergence”, NSRF, co-financed by Greece and the EU – European Regional Development Fund), (www.epset.gr), which is the main development project of the ESF.
EKT is developing digital repository services for reputable educational, research, scientific and cultural content providers. Soon, these services will be further developed, utilizing the Software as a Service model. The goal is to create a strong knowledge network for the utilization and reuse of reputable Greek digital content.
It is noted that the non-profit Free Software/Open Source Software Association (FSO/OSA) was founded in 2008 and consists of 29 Universities, Research Centers, Technological Foundations and non-profit organizations. Its main goal is to contribute to the promotion and development of Free Software, Open Content and Open Architecture Technologies in the fields of education, the public sector and businesses in Greece, while at the same time it aspires to become a knowledge center and a platform for dialogue on open technologies.

National Documentation Center: access to knowledge
The National Documentation Center (www.ekt.gr) is a scientific facility of national use within the National Research Foundation. As an infrastructure of national scope, the EKT has an institutional role in the collection, organization and dissemination of scientific and technological information, within and outside the country. At the same time, it provides information on research and innovation issues, and supports participation in national and European programs and the exploitation of research results.
With a continuous presence in the Greek scientific community since 1980, EKT utilizes Information and Communication Technologies, combined with modern business methods, to develop innovative actions, oriented towards enhancing open access to digital content of science and culture. To this end, it collaborates with important bodies producing reputable content, such as libraries, archives, museums, research centers.
More than 5,700,000 digital pages of electronic repositories, scientific journals and digital libraries are already available from the website of the National Research and Technology Information System (www.epset.gr), which is the main development project of EKT.
