Google, which has been consistently surprising us lately, has just announced its new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. On paper, these two new models seem to have all the features that make for a great phone, but why should anyone choose them over an iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7?
The answer lies in two words: Google Photos.
Both phones come with unlimited storage for your videos and photos, at full resolution. Anyone can download and install Google Photos on their iOS or Android phone. But the photo storage service caps the resolution at 16 megapixels for photos and full HD (1,920 x 1,080) for videos if you want to store an unlimited amount of your media without incurring a financial penalty. This means that if you want to store photos and videos that are higher resolution (like 4K), then you'll have to pay for a monthly storage plan, which starts at $1.99 per month for 100GB.
With unlimited storage for your photos and videos and even at their highest resolutions, Google's new Pixel smartphones are an attractive option for people who want to store their memories intact and in the best possible resolution.
