Specialized insurance packages
As soon as the unusual incidents became known in Germany, a major insurance company began advertising the first specialized insurance package for the popular game.
Speaking to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, a company spokesman said that it considers “injuries from falls, such as bruises, broken hands or torn ligaments,” to be given and expected.
The insurance policy is initially available for one year via an App created by a startup online insurance platform.
The first two weeks of insurance coverage are free.
The company claims that business is going well, as it has sold 100 insurance policies to ambitious hunters of the famous game to date. Of course, the risk of an accident is significantly reduced when the speed of the chase is reduced. That is why the Düsseldorf public transport is already organizing special tram routes at very low speed for fans of the now well-known and beloved game, where those interested have all the time to look for Pikachu, without getting crushed.
However, consumer organizations express serious reservations.
