Project Islandwood is one of 's Microsoft supposed to help most important bridges and is port iOS apps to Windows 10 devices, including PCs and smartphones , so the company is constantly looking for ways to improve existing solutions to make it easier for developers to achieve this goal .
Nearly a year after the launch of the Islandwood project, Microsoft announced a series of improvements that include new APIs to support UIKit , as many developers struggle to migrate toXAML .

Microsoft explains:
“While XAML has been part of the iOS bridge since the beginning – it has always been possible to create and use XAML objects using Objective-C code – there has never easyway to port UIKit-based UIs to XAML.”
Starting with this new set of improvements, the project will come with better support for accessibility and localization, improved test automation, and better integration with XAML. The ultimate goal, Microsoft says, is to make it possiblefor developers to use not just parts of UIKit but the whole thing.
“We feel that these changes will make the Windows Bridge for iOS more powerful and easier to use than ever before. And as always, your feedback is welcome – we have already begun the work of migrating our code base to the new UI approach.”
Microsoft added.
iOS developers who are planning to port their apps to Windows 10 should read this blog post published by Microsoft that details all the changes made to the Islandwood project.
