Following complaints about the display of an image of inappropriate content on a passenger information screen at the Doukissis Plakentias station of the Suburban Railway, TRAINOSE issued a statement referring to a hacking attack.
Let's see what the company says, which confirmed the news with its announcement today:
"TRAINOSE is investigating an incident, which according to relevant postings on websites allegedly took place at the "Doukissis Plakentias" station of the Suburban Railway, with the display of illegal content from a timetable information screen."

"According to initial indications, the most likely scenario is that a young hacker "uploaded" an image (computer desktop) for a few seconds on a single screen of the station, and not a video, of illegal material, in order to take a photo of it and then post it on the internet (social media), to play some kind of prank."
Under no circumstances was a film of inappropriate content shown at Suburban Railway , nor was there any violation of TRAINOSE's electronic timetable information systems, nor was any such thing noticed by passengers or station staff.
This is an isolated incident, apparently staged by a young prankster, whose electronic traces have been identified, on a single information screen.” TRAINOSE added at the end that it will exercise all legal rights.
As expected, the photo spread rapidly on social media, after its initial posting on the internet by a Twitter user, while many questioned the authenticity of the image, a scenario which was ultimately refuted after the official announcement by TRAINOSE and confirmation of the incident.
