Google+ announced last week the availability of Google+ Collections, a new feature it has integrated into its service that will allow users to upload photos, articles and other content related to a specific topic, such as movies, food or space.
Users will be able to choose who can view these collections from their circle of "friends.".
The feature is similar to that offered by rival social networking service Pinterest, which has become particularly popular as a kind of “online scrapbook” and has nearly tripled in value in just a year and a half.
As reported in an article by the technology website CNET, Pinterest representatives declined to comment.
For Google, this move is an attempt to renew its social network service, which has so far failed to become a magnet for users, as has happened with Facebook.
The new Google+ feature is available on the web and on devices that incorporate Google's operating system, Android.
The company also announced that it will soon be available for Apple devices, iPhone and iPad.
