Second suspect arrested for operating Silk Road 2.0

Silk Road 2.0

A second suspect in the operation of Silk Road 2.0 has been arrested by authorities. Silk Road 2.0 was the anonymous online drug market that sprang up after the FBI shut down the original Silk Road in 2013.

Silk Road 2.0 was shut down in late 2014 with the arrest of Blake Benthall, who was allegedly the lead administrator under the alias Defcon.

The latest arrest is Brian Richard Farrell, of Seattle. The 26-year-old allegedly told police he was Defcon.

Farrell, who allegedly used the alias DoctorClu, is charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.

Meanwhile, the trial of Ross Ulbricht, who was allegedly the administrator of the original Silk Road, continues.
