secnews.gr was at the first Media Hack Day organized by the New Technologies Laboratory of the Communication and Media Department. The purpose of the event was to bring together journalists, programmers and designers and to bring new ideas to the surface. The attendees formed 7 teams and competed by presenting their ideas on the topics of modern journalism, mobile technology, digital storytelling, games and big data.
The teams were supervised by mentors, such as Klaas Speller and Olga Paraskevopoulou, co-founders of Stone Soup, Panagiotis Xynos, CTO of Frink, Elina Makri, award-winning journalist and founder of the ijp.gr, Konstantinos Mourlas, assistant professor of the Department of Communication and Mass Media, Angeliki Boubouka, journalist, Betty Tsakarestou, assistant professor, Director of the Marketing Co-Creation AD & PR Lab of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture of Panteion University, Yannis Kouroumpakalis, programmer, etc.
The three winning teams were The Forge, with their innovative game, JoJo, who presented an app that promotes user-generated content, and Money and Power, who presented a platform that will show the economic relationships between the powerful in our country.
