Today the Tor Project announced its partnership with Mozilla, the creator of the Firefox browser, and the Center of Democracy & Technology, a digital rights advocacy group, as part of a new initiative called the PolarisTor Project.
The partnership will benefit both the Mozilla Foundation and the Tor Project. The Firefox browser will have more privacy features, while the Tor Project will work alongside Mozilla developers to help develop the original Firefox source code with increased support from the Tor network. You know that the Tor browser is powered by Mozilla technology.
Currently, there is a limited number of Tor connections that can be used simultaneously. The Mozilla Foundation will add many additional intermediate relays to the Tor network.
For those of you concerned about your privacy while surfing the Internet, the Tor browser is a great way to keep prying eyes away. With the announcement of Mozilla's partnership with the Tor network, that private browsing could become a little more powerful.
