VideoLAN is getting ready to release the final version of VLC for Windows 8, so all the developers looking to make some easy money have only a few days to do so.
A new app called VLC for Windows 8.1 has appeared, which tries to trick users into believing it is the official app.
The only problem is that VideoLan will offer the official app for free, while the one currently on sale costs $9.99 (€7.5) and doesn't seem to provide too many features on Windows 8 and RT.
There's only one screenshot posted to the Windows Store that shows how the app is supposed to play movies, but no other features are shown. Of course, there's no trial version available, so the only way to use VLC on Windows 8.1 is to buy it.
We recommend that you be very careful when purchasing an application and check if it is official by going to the company's page.
