For months, reports have been circulating that Google is preparing its own smartwatch , and today's Wall Street Journal report states that the device is close to the production stage.
Google's smartwatch will of course run Android and will be built around the company's personal electronic assistant, Google Now.
Google Now is a central information point for the user, which includes personalized information such as news and weather forecasts, based on the user's location, emails, and browsing history.
According to the WSJ's anonymous sources, the smartwatch is likely to be on the market "within months."
The same publication also mentions that the watch will also communicate with other devices , such as smartphones .
Reference is also made to the company's effort to reduce the smartwatch's consumption, a factor that is perhaps the main disadvantage of Samsung's Galaxy Gear
