In the "tweezers" of a trafficker of child pornography and a "pirate" of subscription services

crimeThe Economic Police and Cybercrime Prosecution Service caught, after coordinated operations in Northern Greece, two perpetrators of trafficking in child pornography via the internet and "pirating" subscription services.

Specifically, in the first case, after extensive online investigations, using special software to identify internet users who distribute child pornography, electronic traces of an individual who possessed and distributed pornographic material were identified.

 

Pylaia, Thessaloniki: 34-year-old arrested

Following a request from the prosecution authorities, a relevant Decree was issued by the Athens Council of Misdemeanor Courts, to lift the confidentiality of communications via the internet.

The digital police investigation that followed revealed that this is a 34-year-old Greek man in the Pylaia area of ​​Thessaloniki, who, from the beginning of June to mid-September, using at least 30 different IP addresses, distributed (possessed and helped distribute), through special file sharing programs, at least 166 files of child pornography.

The 34-year-old was located, arrested and taken to the Thessaloniki First Instance Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday.

As announced by the police, a team from the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of police officers from the local Security Department, conducted a search on Tuesday afternoon, in the presence of a judicial officer, at his home, where the following were found and seized:

*(4) external storage devices (usb sticks)
*(1) video camera
*(2) internal computer hard drives and
*(16) digital optical discs.

Also, from the on-site investigation conducted on electronic storage media, a large number of files of child pornography (videos and photographs) were found.

It is noted that the seized digital evidence will be submitted to forensic laboratories for the necessary laboratory tests.

Veria: He was illegally distributing a television signal

In another case, a store selling and installing satellite receivers, antennas, etc. was located in the city of Veria, run by a 34-year-old Greek man, who, according to a complaint, was illegally distributing a television signal.

From the search carried out at his store in Veria, six satellite receivers from various companies, an external storage unit (USB) and an internal computer disk were found and seized.

This specific case was preceded by a lawsuit filed with the Cybercrime Prosecution Sub-Directorate by an attorney-at-law of a public limited company providing services to electronic media.

The lawsuit concerned satellite "piracy" of the services provided by this company, through the illegal distribution of its television signal to a large number of "subscribers".

A case has been filed against the 34-year-old for violating the legislation concerning intellectual property law and the protection of subscription services, which will be submitted to the Veria Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office.

And for this case, the seized digital evidence will be sent to forensic laboratories for the necessary laboratory tests.
