The electronic devices that are worn are expected to become the next «big thing» in the technology field, and therefore many new products that fall under wearable electronics are being prepared to hit the market. One of these is the so‑called 13.56: essentially it is a bracelet/anklet with Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, which is being developed by Spanish students who turned to Kickstarter to fund their project.

As said by Gigiérmo Banderas, one of the creators of 13.56, in Mashable, essentially what the pericarp does is to turn the back of the smartphone into a large “button”, with the user simply bringing the hand with the bracelet close to the phone and making a gesture to give the commands they wish so that some simple functions are performed (turning off the alarm, adjusting volume, changing song, etc).

Also, the device is waterproof and, according to its manufacturers, who chose natural rubber as the construction material, designed for everyday use.

So far, 13.56 has collected £4,300 for its funding, with the goal of reaching £20,000 and 13 days remaining to complete the process.
