Sensata Technologies suffered a ransomware attack last weekend, which led to the encryption of parts of the company's network and the disruption of business operations.

In an 8-K filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sensata said the attack occurred on Sunday, April 6. In addition to the encryption, was also detected data theft.

Sensata Technologies is an industrial technology that develops, manufactures and sells a wide range of products. The company's products are primarily intended for sectors such as automotive, aerospace and industrial applications.
As Sensata explained , the ransomware attack affected some operations , such as shipping, receiving and production, as well as various other support functions.
Sensata says it has taken immediate steps to expedite the recovery process for critical operations. However, the company cannot provide a timeline for completing this effort.

As we mentioned earlier, in addition to the system outage, the company is also dealing with the theft of some data. A preliminary investigation, with the help of external experts, confirmed that hackers stole data from the company's network.

Sensata is currently trying to determine which files were stolen and will notify affected individuals and regulators.
The company does not expect a significant impact on its financial results for the current quarter ending June 30. However, Sensata admits that this could change once the full scope and impact of the ransomware attack.
