Maps is receiving deletion emails from Googleregarding Google Maps Location History data that is three months old or older, unless they choose otherwise. Some are given a deadline to make their decision: some see November 19th, while others see a deadline of December 1st. A link to keep your Location History is included in the email, but it appears that this option deletes Timeline data for some people anyway.

In December 2023, Google announced a big change to the Location History feature in its Timeline in Google Maps. The change is that Google Maps will start storing your location history on your device, after years of storing it in the cloud. The deadline for this change is now approaching.

Android Authority has noticed that some users are receiving an email notifying them that the changes will take effect starting November 19. Previously, it was reported that December 1 would be the deadline for this change, but it seems that different users are receiving different dates.

If you don't take action before the deadline, Google will attempt to export the last 90 days of Timeline data to the first connected device you use after the deadline. Data older than 90 days will be deleted. Also, new Location History will be stored on your current device after this deadline.

In the email, there's a link that lets you choose to keep your Timeline data until you decide to delete it or have it automatically deleted after three months. However, some people are saying they chose the first option but their Timeline data was deleted anyway, which seems to be an outrageous bug.
